MILWAUKEE -- Visiting Marian University scored three goals in a four-minute, 12-second span early in the second half to put the game out of reach for Alverno College Sunday afternoon at Alverno Field.

The Sabres (3-8, 1-4 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) earned their first conference win of the season in the 5-0 defeat of the host Inferno (5-6, 1-6 NACC).

The first half played out nearly even as Marian scored the period's lone goal on a penalty kick in the 34th minute.

A 14-10 advantage on shots in the game was in favor of the visitors as well as 8-2 on corner kicks -- two of which led directly to scores in the second-half scoring spurt.

Rikki Nelson and Samantha Devcich led Alverno with two shots apiece while Devcich was one of three Inferno players to put one on frame. Allison Weick tallied four saves in the loss.

The first of four consecutive road contests begins Tuesday for Alverno as the squad travels to Concordia University Wisconsin for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
