Golf Team Lifts Lid on Season at NACC Championship Preview

RACINE, Wis.
– The Alverno golf team got its campaign underway on Sunday afternoon at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship Preview at Meadowbrook Country Club just south of Milwaukee. The Inferno took ninth place on the team leaderboard, which will be used to seed the teams in the NACC Conference Championship at the end of the month.

Three members of the Inferno made their collegiate golf debuts, as the trio along with junior returner Kaitlynn Schmick combined for a team score of 601.

Schmick led the Inferno with a team-bet 128 on the par 72 course spanning a distance of 5,804 yards. For Schmick it was a +56 on the course, which was good enough for 38th overall on the individual leaderboard.

Second for the Inferno was rookie Hannah Muszynski, who carded a score of 152, which was 40th overall with a +80. Senior Sam Korn totaled just one more shot than Muszynski, as Korn tallied a 153 in her collegiate golfing debut.

Junior Brittney Hondel was the fourth to place for the Inferno as she carded a 168, which was a +96 during her Inferno debut on the links.

With the conclusion of the NACC Championship preview, the Inferno will begin its dual match season with the first of four dual matches taking place on Friday, as the Inferno will host the Mount Mary Blue Angels at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Golf Course in nearby Franklin, Wisconsin.
