Alverno Concludes Fall Season At NACC Championship

KANSASVILLE, Wisconsin -- Alverno College closed out its fall season with an eighth-place finish at the 2016 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Golf Championship Sunday afternoon at Brighton Dale Links.

The Inferno opened with a first-round score of 537 Friday, totaled a 546 Saturday, and then scored a 595 in Sunday's final round for a three-day total of 1,678.

Aurora University topped the NACC standings with a 1,066 which bested runner-up Benedictine University by 47 strokes and earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship in the spring.

Mariah Hightower led Alverno with a 31st place finish at the championship with a three-round total of 414. The rookie improved on her opening round score of 144 with a 134 Saturday and a 136 Sunday.

Alisseya Didlo carded a 423, Hannah Kelsey at 445 while Katelyn Bartlett and Mackenzie Mathies alternated rounds for the Inferno's final spot. Bartlett shot a team-best round of 115 Friday.

The eighth-place finish in the conference championship matched the finish the past two seasons.
