Kaela Jones joins the Alverno athletics staff for her first season in 2018-19 as an assistant coach with the basketball program.
Jones recently graduated from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois, which included a four-year career on the Bluejay basketball team.
One of the top long-range shooters in Bluejay history, Jones connected on 41 three-pointers as a senior and had another 35 the previous season as a junior. Her 116 career three-pointers made is fourth all-time in school history, as is her 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc.
Jones appeared in 99 career games with Elmhurst and amassed 862 career points including a career-high 292 as a senior. She pulled down 358 career rebounds and also added 89 steals and 39 blocks to go along with her 168 career assists.
Away from her playing career, Jones served in several roles, which included a coaching role with the Minnesota Suns during the summers of both 2015 and 2017. At the camp she taught seventh and eighth grade student-athletes basketball skills to help improve their games.
The Maple Grove, Minnesota native graduated with a degree in Mathematics and earned her minor in Business Administration.
