MILWAUKEE – Head Coach Nancy Osborne, entering her second season at the helm of the Alverno basketball program has announced the full schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season. This year the slate will feature five non-conference games and 20 games in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference competition.
Last season the Inferno secured six victories, with one coming in non-conference play as the team will look to improve upon that total heading into the upcoming campaign.
The first two games of the season will not take place far from home as the Inferno will take part in a two-day, four-team tournament hosted by Mount Mary. Alverno matches up with Blackburn to open the season on November 8, followed by a November 9 matchup against Northland.
The team's longest trip of the season is up next as the team will head west of the Mississippi River to visit Crown in a matchup of last season's 2018-19 matchup that saw the Inferno win their first game of the season, 64-50.
The first home game of the year will also be the start of conference play as Alverno hosts Illinois Tech on Tuesday, November 26 before the Inferno hosts crosstown foe MSOE on December 3. Conference play continues with trips to Wisconsin Lutheran on December 7 before a trip to Concordia Wisconsin on December 10.
The Inferno will play its last two non-conference games over the next five days as the team will head to nearby Mount Mary for the second time on the season to square off with the Blue Angels. The final non-conference bout will come against Maranatha on December 19, when the Inferno host the Sabercats for a rare 6 p.m. start.
Conference play takes over for the final two months of the season as Alverno kicks off 2020 with three straight on the road against Aurora (January 4), Benedictine (January 8), and Lakeland (January 11). Following the three-game roadswing, Alverno returns home to take on Edgewood (January 14), Rockford (January 18), and Concordia Chicago (January 22).
The month will come to a close with Edgewood in Madison on January 25 before returning home against Lakeland on January 28, and Benedictine on January 30.
The final six games of the regular season will take place in February as Alverno starts off with Dominican on the road on the first, followed by a trip to Illinois Tech on the fifth. After a quick trip home to take on Aurora on February 8, the team plays its final two regular season road games at Marian (February 11), and MSOE (February 15).
Regular season action comes to a close on February 19, when the Inferno host Wisconsin Lutheran for a 7 p.m. start inside Reiman Gymnasium.
The top six teams will qualify for the NACC Championship, beginning with first round matchups taking place on February 26. The semifinals will follow on the additional leap year day of February 29, before a league champion is crowned on March 1. The winner earns the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
