MILWAUKEE – On Tuesday, second-year head coach Nancy Osborne revealed the upcoming 2019-20 slate of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchups. This season, Alverno will play a 20 league matchups, with eight home-and-home series with four single-game matchups against league foes.
Last year the Inferno notched five conference victories and will look to improve upon that number heading into the program's 20th season of existence.
League competition will open up on Tuesday, November 26 as the Inferno will host the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks at 7 p.m. from Reiman Gymnasium. Last season the Inferno downed the Scarlet Hawks in both matchups, winning by identical 28-point margins.
After Thanksgiving Alverno will host crosstown rival Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday, December 3 at 7 p.m. Last year's home matchup with the Raiders was the largest crowd of the season inside Reiman Gymnasium. The first two road games will follow as Alverno visits defending league champion Wisconsin Lutheran on December 7 before a trip to Concordia Wisconsin on December 10.
The Inferno will welcome in Marian on December 14, looking to extend its seven-game winning streak against the Sabres dating back to the 2015-16 season.
The calendar will turn into the next decade and will open with there-straight road games as the Inferno visit Aurora on January 4, followed by Benedictine on January 8, and Lakeland on January 14.
The long stretch of road games is followed by the longest homestand of the season as Alverno hosts Edgewood on January 14, Rockford on January 18, and Concordia Chicago on January 22. Following a quick trip to Edgewood on January 11, the team returns home for two more at Reiman Gymnasium against Lakeland on January 28, and Benedictine on January 30 to close out the opening month of the calendar year.
Four of the first five games in the month of February will take place on the road beginning with Dominican on February 1, followed by a trip to Illinois Tech four days later. After a quick trip home to host Aurora on February 8, the Inferno head back on the road to take on Marian on February 11 before visiting MSOE on February 15.
The final game of the regular season takes place on Wednesday, February 19 as the Inferno host Wisconsin Lutheran for a 7 p.m. tip.
The top six teams will qualify for the NACC Championship, beginning with first round matchups taking place on February 26. The semifinals will follow on the additional leap year day of February 29, before a league champion is crowned on March 1. The winner earns the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
