MEQUON, WIS—Alverno College basketball fell in NACC competition to Concordia Wisconsin Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons started the contest with a quick 7-0 run before Mackenzie Mathies got the Inferno scoring going with a three point field goal. At the 4:14 mark, Gabby Hood converted on a layup to cut the Falcon lead to 18-5. Again, Mackenzie Mathies connected on a three point field goal to shrink the Concordia Wisconsin advantage to 22-15. Concordia controlled a 26-15 lead heading to the second quarter.
After a three point field goal from Kendra Patterson, the Falcons went on a 10-1 run to control a 37-19 lead with 5:17 remaining until halftime. A layup just before halftime from Karli Selear saw the Inferno head into halftime trailing 49-28.
The Falcons continued to add to their lead in the third quarter. Kendra Patterson added to the Inferno effort off a made jump shot. Concordia Wisconsin held a 66-31 advantage heading to the final quarter.
The Falcon lead was too much for Alverno to mount a comeback in the final quarter. Concordia Wisconsin took the NACC victory by a final score of 76-41.
Mackenzie Mathies led the way for the Inferno finishing with 13 points and three rebounds. Gabby Hood and Kendra Patterson contributed with seven points while Karli Selear and Dani Hood added six points.
Alverno College continues NACC play on Wednesday, Jan. 10 as they travel to Aurora at 7 p.m.
