MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College's Gabby Hood was named to the All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference first team, as the awards for the 2016-17 women's basketball season were announced by the league office today. All awards are voted on by the conference's head coaches.
Hood leads the Inferno in scoring at 11.8 points per game and the junior point guard is second on the squad and ninth in the league in rebounding with a 7.4 per game average. Her 4.7 assists per game average is second in the conference, her six double-doubles are third in the league, while her 1.7 steals average is ninth.
"Gabby is one of the best point guards in our league, she is very deserving of this conference honor," said Alverno Head Coach Jessica Ott. "She is a competitor with a motor that never quits. Each game she keeps getting better and has done everything we have asked her to do."
The Racine, Wisconsin native set a new single-game school record with 13 assists in a win at Rockford University earlier this month and is just seven away from tying the single-season record as she's tallied 122 this season.
Alverno (13-13, 12-8 NACC) defeated Benedictine University, 64-63, in the NACC Women's Basketball Tournament First Round on a last-second free throw by Hood. The team plays at Lakeland University in the semifinal round tonight at 7 up in Plymouth.
