Cold Water Challenge Accepted! Alverno Staff Is #Chillin4Charity

MILWAUKEE -- The basketball coaching staff at Alverno College accepted #Chillin4Charity "Cold Water Challenge" that is sweeping the nation, specifically the nation of women's basketball coaches.

This entertaining fundraiser combines a pair of today's favorite pastimes--viral videos and raising money for charity. The challenge includes being doused with a bucket of water, then challenging three more coaches. Alverno Head Coach Brad Duckworth donated $100 to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund after he and assistants Alicia Kontowski and Lisa Sorgi took their ice-water shower Monday morning on the Alverno campus.

The Inferno coaching staff accepted the challenge from three other coaches including a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference foes, Jessica Ott of Milwaukee School of Engineering and Casey Plucinski of Edgewood College, in addition to Jason Averkamp, an assistant at Florida's Lynn University.

Duckworth then challenged UW-La Crosse's Lois Heeren, Mount Mary University's Marc Heidorf and Brockport State's Nicole Beauregard. Duckworth served on Heeren's staff as an assistant at UWL with Heidorf, who was also Duckworth's assistant his first year at Alverno, while Beauregard was Duckworth's assistant when he coached at New Paltz State in New York.

Coaches Heeren, Heidorf and Beauregard have one week to accept the challenge or donate $200 to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
