MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College finishes a five-game homestand on Tuesday versus Marian University before heading downtown for a crosstown matchup at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday for the team's only two contests this week.
The Inferno (8-6, 5-2 Northern Athletics Conference) enters the week just a half game back of Concordia University Wisconsin, which leads the NAC North Division at 6-2. The Inferno won consecutive games for the first time this season with victories over Concordia Chicago and Aurora University last week.
Tuesday's game against the Sabres marks the end of the Inferno's current homestand in which the host has gone 3-1.
The Sabres (4-9, 3-4 NAC) just snapped a six-game skid with a 72-64 comeback victory over Rockford College on Saturday.
Marian trailed by 13 points before it rallied and took its first lead since the opening possession with five minutes left to play and remained in front for the win. Four Sabres scored at least 14 points in the game, led by Sarah Albert's -- the team's leading scorer -- 18.
Marian leads the all-time series 15-5, which includes three-straight wins.
MSOE hosts Alverno on Thursday at the Kern Center in the Raiders' first home game since Dec. 8. The Raiders (0-11, 0-5 NAC) have yet to win a contest, but played their best ball most recently. MSOE kept the spread within single-digits for the first time this season in a 60-52 loss to Finlandia University on Saturday, and shot a season-best 46 percent from the 3-point arc with five long balls.
The Raiders lead the all-time series 14-7, but is 2-2 in the last four meetings.
Both of this week's games are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
