Torey Borkowski joined the Alverno staff as assistant softball coach in July of 2016.
In her first season as an assistant coach, Alverno broke the single-season school record with 56 sacrifice hits and more than doubled the stolen bases record with 74 swipes. The 2017 squad finished 13-25 overall and 6-16 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.
The Ottawa, Illinois native graduated from the University of St. Francis with a bachelor's degree in recreation, sport and tourism management in 2016.
A four-year member of the Fighting Saints softball team, Borkowski was tabbed as a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District performer in 2015 and was twice named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic team.
During her collegiate career, Borkowski split her time at catcher, designated player and in the outfield. She batted .287 with a .370 on-base percentage and a .374 slugging percentage. She appeared in 163 games and started in 129 for the Fighting Saints where she tallied 105 career hits, 76 RBIs and five home runs. She also accumulated a .971 fielding percentage.
In addition to her coaching duties, Borkowski is currently working on her MBA at Alverno.
