LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following her selection as the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Position Player of the Week, Alverno senior infielder Carina Jimenez was recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as a top performer of the week.
Jimenez was one of 17 selections this week that earned top performance honors in addition to the National Player of the Week as announced by the college softball coaches association as announced on Wednesday.
On the week Jimenez hits .517 as she collected 15 hits through the final eight games of the team's Florida swing. Included in her 15 hits was two doubles and one home run, which came on Tuesday against Mitchell College as a grand slam. Jimenez drove in 16 runs and scored 10 on the week including six RBIs against Mitchell and a week-best three runs scored against Sage.
She has had eight multi-hit efforts in the team's 10 games thus far on the season, including a walk-off hit in the team's upset win over Bridgewater. Three of her hits on the week game in the team's 7-5 victory over Houghton on Thursday, as she became the second player in as many days to collect their 100th career.
Jimenez is currently ranked 50th amongst all NCAA Division III batters with her 19 hits on the year, and is also ranked 92nd in Division III with 25 total bases. She is also 11th in the nation amongst Division III hitters with her 18 RBIs.
Alverno sits at 7-3 through the first quarter of its season and will look to get back on the field on Saturday, March 23, when the Inferno will travel to Beloit for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
