Alverno Softball Coach Schalk Accepts Position with Division I Toledo

MILWAUKEE – Alverno College Softball Head Coach Ryan Schalk has accepted a position with the Division I University of Toledo in Ohio, Alverno Director of Athletics Heather Parkinson said Friday.

In one season, Schalk led the team to 14 wins, including six Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victories.

Parkinson said the search for a new coach will begin immediately and that her top priority is supporting Inferno student-athletes during the transition. Schalk's last day is Friday, September 7.

"I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with outstanding people at Alverno, most especially our student-athletes," Schalk said.

Under Schalk, six student-athletes were named NACC Scholar-Athletes: Lauren Greif, Dani Hood, Sam Korn, Mackenzie Mathies, Olivia Schneider and Andie Vandertie. The six selections accounted for nearly 25 percent of all of Alverno's selections to the Scholar-Athlete team.
