Strong Performance helps Inferno Sweep Mount Mary

MILWAUKEE, WIS.--The Alverno College softball team (6-6, 0-0 NACC) swept Mount Mary in non-conference action Friday afternoon by final scores of 8-0 and 11-2. Senior pitcher Olivia Schneider pitched five scoreless innings only allowing one hit while striking out nine of the 16 batters faced. The Inferno bats stayed hot in game two as Lauren Greif hit a two-run home run to add to the Alverno scoring. Alverno College collected a total of 18 strikeouts between pitchers Olivia Schneider and Ashlie Rossi. The Inferno also tallied 21 total hits for both games.

  • 1st Inning: Andie Vandertie continued to find success at the plate as a single to right field scored Mackenzie Mathies.
  • 1st Inning: Lauren Greif collected her first home run of the season which scored Andie Vandertie to add to the Inferno lead 3-0.
  • 3rd Inning: Lauren Greif singled up the middle to score Sam Korn to give the Inferno a 4-1 advantage.
  • 3rd Inning: Carina Jimenez added to the Inferno scoring effort with a single to left field.
  • 3rd Inning: Katrina Lasee singled to right center that scored Lauren Greif giving Alverno the 6-1 advantage.
  • 3rd Inning: A single from Kaitlynn Johnson scored two Inferno runners as Alverno now held an 8-1 lead.
  • 3rd Inning: A deep sac fly from Sam Korn helped score Katrina Lasee.
  • 3rd Inning: Ashlie Rossi doubled to left field that would score two runs and give the Inferno the 11-2 score.  

Due Up

  • Due to the cold weather coming, the doubleheader with Beloit College that was scheduled for Saturday, March 24 has been postponed. A make-up date has yet to be determined. Alverno College will travel to Lawrence College for a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 28 with the first game set to start at 3 p.m.
