Softball End Spring Trip on a High Note

CLERMONT, FLA. The Alverno College softball team (4-6, 0-0 NACC) split on the final day of the spring trip losing to Hanover 6-1. Ashlie Rossi threw five scoreless innings in game one while senior Olivia Schneider held Houghton to one run and eight hits. The Inferno tallied 16 hits in game 2 to cruise to an 8-1 victory to close out the trip.

How the Inferno scored

  • 3rd Inning: Following a sacrifice bunt from Dani Hood, Mackenzie Mathies singled to left center to score Carina Jimenez from second.
  • 3rd Inning: Ashlie Rossi singled to right center to widen the inferno lead to 2-0.
  • 5th Inning: A bunt single from Sam Korn scored Dani Hood from third to extend the Inferno lead.
  • 5th Inning: Andie Vandertie singled up the middle to double the Inferno lead to 4-0.
  • 5th Inning: After an error that scored Sam Korn, Katrina Lasee singled to right field to give the Inferno a commanding 7-0 lead.
  • 7th Inning: Dani Hood singled through the left side to push the Inferno effort back to 7 runs at 8-1.
