CLERMONT, FLA. The Alverno College softball team (1-3, 0-0 NACC) split on the second day of the 2018 spring trip dropping game one against Hanover 6-2 before defeating Eastern 10-2 through five innings.

How the Inferno scored

  • 1st Inning: Following a wild pitch, Mackenzie Mathies stole home to start off the Inferno scoring.
  • 1st Inning: A basses loaded walk knotted the game at 2.
  • 1st Inning: A fly out from Kaitlynn Schmick scored Ashlie Rossi from third to give the Inferno the first lead of the game at 3-2.
  • 1st Inning: Sara Redlin doubled to score Lauren Greif and Andie Vandertie to extend the Inferno advantage to 5-2.
  • 1st Inning: Mackenzie Mathies singled to score Johnson as the Inferno controlled a 6-2 effort.
  • 1st Inning: An Eastern error saw Sara Redlin steal home.
  • 3rd Inning: Andie Vandertie singled through the left side to add on to the Inferno lead 8-2.
  • 4th Inning: Kaitlynn Johnson scored by way of a fielder's choice to expand the Inferno effort to 9-2.
  • 5th Inning: Lauren Greif singled to close the game in favor of the Inferno by a final score of 10-2.

  • Alverno College are back at the diamond tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 26, as the Inferno play Houghton at 3 P.M. EST then finish the day against Concordia Moorhead at 4:30 P.M. EST.
