MILWAUKEE -- Host Alverno College lost both games of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday afternoon at Alverno Field.
The visiting Raiders blanked the Inferno 8-0 in game one and took game two 8-5.
The MSOE pitching staff allowed just a pair of hits in the opener as Andie Vandertie singled off a diving shortstop to break up the no-hit bid in the bottom of the fourth. Sara Redlin made the most of her pinch-hitting opportunity in the following inning with a base hit up the middle, but she and Vandertie were the only two Inferno batters to reach base.
Shannon Curtis and Caitlyn Moran combined for 11 strikeouts in the shutout bid while the Raiders scored eight runs on 13 hits.
In game two MSOE scored three in the opening frame, but Ashlie Rossi tied things up with one swing of the bat in the second inning.
The Raiders responded with two runs in the third, one in the fourth, and two in the sixth and remained in front the rest of the game.
Jedrzejewski went 3-for-4 in the game while Hernandez was 2-for-3 as Alverno connected for 10 hits in the nightcap and reached two more times via walk.
Curtis (13-6) picked up both wins in the circle for MSOE as she pitched 9.1 innings in the series while Olivia Schneider (5-9) and Rossi (5-11) were tagged with the losses as both Inferno hurlers pitched complete games.
Alverno continues its six-game weekend with a road trip to Concordia University Chicago tomorrow. First pitch is at 12 p.m. in River Forest, Illinois.
