MILWAUKEE -- Visiting Beloit College spoiled Alverno College's home opener with a doubleheader sweep of the host Inferno Tuesday afternoon at Alverno Field.
The Buccaneers (3-9) topped Alverno 5-1 in the opener and 2-0 in the nightcap.
Kristin Holub led off the second inning of game one with a double and Megan Hernandez scored the junior outfielder with an RBI-single up the middle for the Inferno's lone run of the day for a 1-0 lead.
The Bucs answered with two runs in the top of the fourth and added three runs over the fifth and seventh innings.
Olivia Schneider (3-4) was tagged for the complete-game loss as she tossed six strikeouts and allowed no walks, but surrendered five runs on 10 hits.
Game two remained scoreless until Beloit's Tala Cornell singled up the middle to score a pair of base runners for the lone runs of the contest in the top of the sixth.
Andie Vandertie doubled in the bottom half of the inning for her second hit of the game but remained stranded as the Inferno left seven runners on base in the contest.
Ashlie Rossi (2-1) picked up the complete-game loss as she scattered nine hits, allowed two runs and had three Ks.
Alverno (5-5) begins a 10-game road swing with three doubleheaders down in Georgia next week.
