MARQUETTE, Michigan -- Alverno College won all three of its games in the team's final day of the Finlandia Dome Tournament inside the Superior Dome.
The Inferno (3-1) began the day with a 1-0 win over Simpson College (Iowa), topped Northland College 5-1, and then earned an 11-9 walk-off victory over University of Wisconsin-Superior in 11 innings.
Samantha Chapnick's home run in the top of the seventh inning was the lone score in the day's opener against the Storm (1-1).
Ashlie Rossi pitched her first career shutout as she recorded three strikeouts and allowed just three hits in the full seven innings of work in the circle.
Olivia Schneider followed up with 10 Ks in the win over the LumberJills (1-2). She allowed just five hits and one run in the complete-game victory while a pair of opening-inning runs was all the Inferno needed.
Dani Hood provided the heroics for Alverno with a walk-off two-run homer against the Yellowjackets (0-1). It was her lone hit of the contest, but enough to provide the Inferno with the program's first extra-inning victory since 2014.
Rossi homered in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 3-3 which forced extra innings.
Rossi (5.1 innings pitched) and Schneider (5.2) split the work in the circle as just five of the nine runs allowed were earned.
Next up for Alverno is a road trip to central Illinois for a pair of doubleheaders at Robert Morris University-Springfield and Eureka College, March 19-20.
