MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College’s Jessica Goetz (Milwaukee, Wis./Greendale Martin Luther)  was named Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for softball pitchers from games played Monday, April 27, through Sunday, May 3.

Her week was highlighted by striking out 17 of 25 MSOE batters in game one of last Tuesday’s doubleheader, which the Inferno won 3-1. The 17-strikeout performance broke her own single-game school record (formerly 15 strikeouts) and tied the NAC record for single-game strikeouts.

“Jessi is a competitor, so when she is on the field, she is all business. Being the last doubleheader of the season, I knew she would come out ready to play, but I’ve never seen her quite that focused before.  It was a lot of fun to watch,” says Head Coach Burtman.

The junior right-hander also pitched four complete games on the week, averaging 1.15 strikeouts per inning.  She had an ERA of 3.37 and walked just 10 of 114 batters in 27 innings.
