DUNBAR, Wis. -- Northland International University handed the Alverno College women’s soccer team their first defeat of the 2009 campaign with a 4-1 nonconference loss this afternoon.
“We put forth a strong effort today and fought hard through the 90 minutes,” Alverno head coach Brittany Oliveira said. “There’s no doubt the team was feeling the effects of the third game of the week and less than 20 hours of rest.”
The Inferno (2-1) played Mount Mary College on Tuesday and North Central University (Minn.) yesterday afternoon before making the near four hour trip to northern Wisconsin.

MILWAUKEE -- The Alverno College women's soccer team battled through yet another game with no extra bodies on the bench for relief, but was still able to put together a stellar effort on the field with a 4-1 nonconference victory over North Central University (Minn.) at home.
Forward Kelsey Kochanowski (Oak Creek, Wis.) provided much of that offensive punch, recording the first four goals of her collegiate career in succession all during the first half of play. The feat immediately launched the freshman into Alverno’s record books, as she tied the totals for second-most goals scored in a game and second-most points tallied with eight.
MILWAUKEE -- Sarah Teegarden, a former All-American at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has been named assistant soccer coach at Alverno College.
