RobinsonFOND DU LAC, Wis. -- Alverno was unable to stop the Marian attack as the host Sabres defeated the Inferno 3-0 today at Smith Field.

The Inferno (6-13, 2-9 Northern Athletics Conference) trailed only 1-0 at halftime, due in part to goalkeeper Samantha Robinson's (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) nine saves in the half on 24 shots by the Sabres (11-6, 9-2).

Marian's first-half goal came in the 40th minute off a corner kick to end the game's scoreless tie.

Though fewer chances in the second period (15) the Sabres capitalized with a pair of second-half scores for the 3-0 final score.

Robinson finished the game with 14 saves in the loss.

Nava Moniriarani (Oak Creek, Wis.) got off the Inferno's lone shot on goal in the contest.

Alverno concludes its season on Wednesday hosting Wisconsin Lutheran in a NAC contest at 3 p.m. at Alverno Field.
