MILWAUKEE -- Six different Alverno players scored in an 8-0 shutout victory over the visiting Rockford Regents this afternoon at Alverno Field, snapping the Inferno's three-game skid.
Kelly Sunstrom (Muskego, Wis./Martin Luther) kicked off the scoring for the Inferno (6-12, 2-8 NAC) in the 10th minute of the game, and nearly a minute later Rachel Krueger (Port Washington, Wis.) scored her first of three goals to make it 2-0.
Kaitlin Schaeren (New Berlin, Wis./West) added a score for the 3-0 lead at intermission.
In the second half, Nava Moniriarani (Oak Creek, Wis.) started the scoring for the Inferno to go along with her pair of assists in the opening period to make it 4-0.
Krueger completed her hat trick with two-consecutive goals in the 66th and 74th minutes, while rookies Casey Scheibengraber (Milwaukee, Wis./MSL) and Chelsey Vanderhill (Waterford, Wis./Union) recorded their first-career scores to round out the scoring.
The Inferno didn't allow the Regents (3-10, 0-10) to get off a shot, and had the 42-0 advantage (21-0 on goal) in the game.
Alverno travels to Marian on Saturday for its final road game of the season for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
