ballAURORA, Ill. -- The Aurora Spartans, five-time defending Northern Athletics Conference champions, defeated the visiting Alverno Inferno, 11-0, today at Vago Field.

The Inferno (5-11, 1-7 NAC) played without their top-two leading scorers (Bryanna Gayle, 11 goals and Rachel Krueger, 10 goals) who were both out due to injury.

Nava Moniriarani (Oak Creek, Wis.), third on the team with six goals, had the only shot on goal for the Inferno, while the host Spartans (12-3, 8-0) fired off 45 shots, 30 of which were on goal.

Alverno trailed 4-0 at halftime, but the short handedness proved to be more of a factor in the second half for the visitors.

The Inferno continue road play at Edgewood this Saturday, before returning home on Oct. 18, hosting Rockford in a NAC contest.
