WilmoreMILWAUKEE -- Freshman catcher Stef Wilmore (Elkhart, Ind./Central) was named Northern Athletics Conference Position Player of the Week for softball for games played Mar. 1-7, as announced by the conference office Monday evening.

This is the second straight week an Inferno softball player was honored as senior right-hander Jessica Goetz was named NAC Pitcher of the Week just seven days ago.

"Stef has been seeing the ball really well," Alverno head coach Kristin Kosobucki said. "She's been making great contact and coming up with some key hits that we needed. Defensively she's done a great job behind the plate, especially calling the game. This is just the beginning of things to come in Stef's career."

Wilmore hit .462 (6-of-13) with two RBIs last week, extending her hitting streak to six games. The rookie smashed three doubles in four games for a .692 slugging percentage and was also perfect from the field on 21 chances playing at both the shortstop and catcher positions.
