MILWAUKEE – Last Monday, the Alverno Athletics Department hosted its first 'Alverno College Night' with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League at the Panther Arena in downtown Milwaukee.
The event was enjoyable for all those that braved the elements and frigid temperatures to attend the game. Ultimately it was the San Antonio Rampage to score in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and escape with the 2-1 victory over the Admirals.
In addition to the game, Alverno registrants were entered in a random drawing to ride the Zamboni ice-resurfacing machine during the first intermission, while another randomly selected Alverno attendee was also able to compete in the 'Human Hockey Puck' competition during the second intermission.
Throughout the game Alverno College was featured on the video board inside the arena, while the department's mascot 'Blaze' was able to greet young fans throughout the night and was also able to ride the ice-resurfacing machine and also competed in the 'Human Hockey Puck' competition.
"It was a fun night for all", commented Assistant Athletic Director, Sean Engel. "While the weather kept some people away, it was a great opportunity to highlight some of the great things that makes Alverno College what it is, while also highlighting our athletic program and to promote how much community service we partake in throughout the year."
Alverno Athletics hopes to continue its partnership with the Admirals, and continuing the event in future seasons. Fans are encouraged to continue visiting Atheltics.Alverno.edu for upcoming news and exciting opportunities and events surrounding Alverno athletics.
