The Inferno softball team looks at its first live action since its spring trip with a pair of doubleheaders, this week in Alverno College Athletics.
Saturday, March 25
- 1 p.m., Softball at Beloit College
Sunday, March 26
- 1 p.m., Softball vs. Carroll University
Last week's snowstorm postponed Alverno's home opener versus Robert Morris University-Springfield. The Inferno will play in its first action since a 4-6 trip at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic this Saturday at Beloit and then host Carroll for the new 2017 home opener.
The Buccaneers went 1-9 on their spring trip and split a twin bill versus Rockford University Sunday afternoon to bring their record to 2-10 on the season. Beloit was limited to four hits in a 5-0 game-one loss but doubled their offensive output with eight in a 3-2 game-two victory over the Regents.
The Bucs lead the all-time series 8-1 with Alverno's lone victory coming in March of 2010. Beloit earned a sweep in Milwaukee last season by scores of 5-1 and 2-0.
The Pioneers have opened the season 7-9, ending their spring trip with a 6-5 win over the College of Mount St. Joseph and a 2-1 loss to Trine University on March 17. Sunday's series will be Carroll's first action since Florida.
The Inferno earned a split with the Pioneers in 2015, the teams' last meeting, but is just 2-8 in the all-time series.
Live broadcasts will be available for both of Sunday's games, while Beloit will provide live stats for Saturday's games with links available on athletics.alverno.edu.
