The Inferno basketball team wraps up the regular season as it makes a push towards the postseason, this week in Alverno College Athletics.
Wednesday, Feb. 15
- 7 p.m., Basketball at Benedictine University
Saturday, Feb. 18
- 7 p.m., Basketball vs. Marian University (Senior Night)
Alverno split a pair of games last week and is now just a win away from clinching a spot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. The Inferno (10-13, 10-8 NACC) can also reach the playoffs with a loss by Milwaukee School of Engineering (11-12, 8-10), who sits two games back but holds the tiebreaker over Alverno.
Wednesday night the Inferno travels to face second-place Benedictine (19-4, 15-3). The Eagles have won four straight games and eight of their last nine. Just a game out of first place, Benedictine is seeking a run at the regular season title and a first-round bye in the NACC Tournament.
The Eagles defeated Alverno, 67-53, in January's meeting in Milwaukee and hold a 19-3 lead in the all-time series.
Saturday evening Marian comes to Reiman Gymnasium for the final regular season game, also the Inferno's Senior Night where the trio of Katelyn Bartlett, Tessa Mersberger and Mollie Mikyska will be honored.
The Sabres (4-19, 3-15) escaped with a 52-49 win at winless Edgewood College Tuesday night, but it was the lone win in their last 10 games.
Including Alverno's 72-69 win up in Fond du Lac on Jan. 28, the Inferno has won three consecutive versus Marian, but still trails 11-18 in the all-time series.
Live broadcasts will be available for both games with links available on athletics.alverno.edu.
