Alverno (9-10, 9-5 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) has won five of its last six contests including Saturday's recent 72-69 win at Marian University. The Inferno holds a 4.5 game lead for sixth place in the NACC standings with six games left to play. The top six teams qualify for the NACC Tournament, making Alverno's magic number three to clinch a postseason spot.
Wednesday's opponent, Dominican (6-13, 4-10 NACC) lost at Wisconsin Lutheran College, 72-51, Saturday, but has won five of its last seven after a stretch of 11 straight losses. The Stars lead the league with 6.2 blocked shots per game.
Alverno and Dominican are tied 12-12 in the all-time series. The Inferno topped the Stars, 60-44, in this season's first meeting at Reiman Gymnasium and has won the last eight meetings.
Concordia Wisconsin visits Reiman Gymnasium Saturday for Alverno's Alumnae Night. The Falcons (15-4, 12-2) are winners of eight of their past 10 including Saturday's 86-67 victory over Concordia Chicago. CUW leads the NACC with a league-low 14.9 turnovers per contest and has allowed 49.2 points to conference opponents, also best in the conference.
The Falcons won last month's meeting up in Mequon, 66-47, and with five straight wins, they lead the all-time series 21-4 over the Inferno.
