The Inferno basketball team opens Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with a Saturday home game, this week in Alverno College Athletics.
Saturday, Nov. 26
- 7 p.m., Basketball vs. Concordia University Chicago
Alverno is still searching for its first win of the season after the opening week of play as the Inferno (0-3, 0-0 NACC) took on a pair of top 25 teams -- No. 14 UW-Oshkosh and No. 22 UW-Stevens Point -- and a strong Ripon College squad where Alverno lost 68-62.
The four-game homestand to begin the season ends Saturday in the first NACC contest of 2016-17 against visiting Concordia Chicago.
The Cougars (0-0, 0-0) open their regular season Monday night against Milwaukee School of Engineering in a league game. CUC hosts Blackburn College Tuesday evening before heading to Milwaukee for Saturday's matchup with the Inferno.
Concordia Chicago took on Division I Loyola University Chicago in an exhibition game on Nov. 6 which it lost, 71-56. The Cougars trailed by just five early in the fourth quarter before the host Ramblers pulled away down the stretch.
Alverno is 8-17 all-time against CUC. The conference foes split last season's series as each team defended its home court -- the Cougars were victorious 84-78 in November and the Inferno won 85-74 in January inside Reiman Gymnasium.
