MILWAUKEE -- The Alverno College women's basketball team trailed the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors 9-0 in the all-time series but nearly broke the winless streak tonight at the Recreation Complex on the WLC campus falling to the hosts 88-85 in double overtime.
"One of our keys tonight was to play 40 minutes of good Alverno basketball," Alverno head coach Brad Duckworth said. "And we had to end up doing it for 50 minutes tonight. It was a heavyweight fight, and I wouldn't say we got knocked out, I think we lost on a judges' decision. We played a good basketball game, we just didn't win."
After several lead changes and 26 combined turnovers, Alverno (2-3, 1-1 Northern Athletics Conference) would find itself in an unfamiliar situation at the end of the first period--in the lead. The Inferno have led at the break in only one of their previous four games this season--a win over Lawrence University on opening night.

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Concordia University Wisconsin defeated Alverno College, 70-64, in the consolation game of the Forester Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Lake Forest College this afternoon handing the Inferno their second straight loss.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Lake Forest College used a 15-4 run at the end of the first half to increase their lead to double digits en route to a 92-58 victory over visiting Alverno College in the second semifinal game of the Forester Tip-Off Tournament.
