JensenMEQUON, Wis. -- The opening 10 minutes of the game was the difference in a 79-62 loss to host Concordia University Wisconsin, as Alverno College was officially eliminated from contention of making the 2012 Northern Athletics Conference Tournament tonight at Buuck Field House.

The Inferno was outscored 19-2 to begin the game, as an Alyssa Jensen (Cudahy, Wis.) finally put the visitors on the board with a jumper at the 11:07 mark. Alverno shot a dismal 0-for-11 before Jensen's basket ended the scoring drought.

The game would get as close as 10 points multiple times the remainder of the game, but Alverno (5-15, 2-12 NAC) wasn't able to catch up to the hot-shooting Falcons (14-7, 13-2).

Concordia shot nearly 53 percent from the field, including 43 percent from the 3-point arc, while the Inferno finished the game at 37 percent from the field, thanks to a 44 percent performance in the second period.

The teams played an even second period, 46-46, as the 33-16 score at halftime also reflected the final 17-point spread.

Four Inferno players reached double-figures, led by Alicia Kontowski's (South Milwaukee, Wis.) 18 points. Jensen added 15, while sophomores Kristen Speerschneider (New Franken, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) and Jamie Hoernke (Mt. Horeb, Wis.) added 11 apiece.

The Falcons' Brittney Toles led all scorers with 19 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field and 5-for-6 performance from the free-throw line.

Alverno hosts Rockford College on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Reiman Gymnasium.
